Bekir ÜNAL
Born in 1980 in Manavgat Karabük village, Bekir Ünal started rafting as a safety/rescuer in 1993, became a rafting boat captain in 1994 and worked as a boat captain and rafting operator for many years.
Since rafting was just starting to be recognized in Turkey between 1996 and 1998, he started researching rivers where rafting could be done and encouraged the local people in places suitable for rafting to be aware of rafting and encourage them to engage in rafting operations and rafting tourism.
He pioneered the establishment of the Rafting and Canoe Federation in 2003 and founded the Mega Rafting Club.
He then started participating in rafting competitions organized by the federation and finally became the Rafting Turkey National Team Captain in 2006.
He participated in competitions in many countries around the world with the National Team.
Bekir Ünal, who made great contributions to the popularization of rafting in Turkey, still continues his rafting management activities with Mega Rafting Club and Tornado Rafting.
